About the Social Studies Department:
The Social Studies department offers a comprehensive, four-year course of study that prepares students for life in a global society.   Mutual respect, toleration, and appreciation for cultural diversity are important themes in our courses.  As freshmen and sophomores, students choose to take Geography and World History courses, while US History, American Studies, or AP US History is taken during the junior year.   We also offer a rich variety of elective courses that can be taken during a student’s junior or senior year.  The Social Studies curriculum offers a challenging array of honors and Advanced Placement courses for those students who desire the increased demands afforded by these classes.  Regardless of your ability level, the Social Studies department offers an academic program that promotes active citizenship and responsibility.
